Emergency Appeal: Support Displaced Families in Lebanon
Beirut, Lebanon - As the ongoing conflict continues to devastate communities across Lebanon, over 200,000 families have been forced to flee their homes, according to AP News. In just the past week, an additional 120,000 people have been displaced, joining the 111,000 who had already been uprooted since October 2023, according to a UN report on displacement. These families now seek refuge in overcrowded schools and public buildings, lacking the essential infrastructure for sanitation, food, and healthcare.
The most vulnerable - children, the elderly, and women - are left without access to basic necessities, such as baby formula, hygiene kits, menstrual products, and medical care. In addition, many families have lost their livelihoods, making it impossible to purchase the essential goods they need to survive.
JCI Lebanon, as part of its ongoing mission to create positive change, is calling for immediate support from international donors to provide emergency relief to these displaced families. With your generous donations, JCI Lebanon will deliver essential aid to those sheltering in the Beqaa region. The initial response will focus on immediate needs, focusing mostly on hygiene kits, menstrual products, baby milk, baby and adult diapers, with a commitment to long-term recovery efforts that will help families rebuild their lives once the immediate crisis has passed.
Marie Khalife, JCI Lebanon Secretary General, commented:
"In this time of unparalleled crisis, we are counting on the generosity of our international members to support us in providing relief to the families who have lost everything. This is more than a humanitarian appeal; it is an urgent call for solidarity. Together, we can offer hope and rebuild lives."
For complete transparency, JCI Lebanon will provide detailed reports to donors on how their contributions are used. Your support will ensure we can continue to respond effectively as the situation evolves.
